With the closure of the youth drop-in centre more than 12 months ago the City of Rockingham identified a need for a centre that provides a number of services for the youth within the City of Rockingham. The City, young people, and their families see a real need for dedicated quality spaces for the youth to recreate and access services in a safe, comfortable inviting spaces for both active and passive activities that accommodate multiple activities with a sense of being non-exclusive and open to all.
SITE facilitated a number of workshops with the City and key youth user groups. The user groups identified through text and precedent images the types of spaces they wanted in the new youth centre and prioritised spaces that are important.
Detailed Design has now been completed and the project is anticipated to be tendered early in 2020 with the construction being completed later in the year.
